On October 1, 2020 new federal ID regulations will take effect at TSA airport security checkpoints.
The new federal rules will require air travelers to have a federally-compliant form of ID in order to pass security clearance.
Arizonans have a choice to get the Travel ID. This credential is a driver license or ID that has a gold star on the top right-hand corner, and getting one is perhaps the most convenient solution.
In order to get one, you can make an appointment at www.servicearizona.com for any MVD office. Walk-ins are also welcome. Or you may visit an Authorized Third Party driver license location.

October of 2020 will be here soon. Don’t wait and don’t get grounded. Get the Travel ID!
Sign up for AZ MVD NOW!
If you’re an Arizona resident already doing business with the MVD, then you’re just moments away from getting a free AZ MVD Now account! Check out www.azmvdnow.az.gov.
AZ MVD Now is a secure, personal MVD account that allows you to manage your MVD services online at your convenience.
Right now, AZ MVD Now allows you a number of services like eTitle transfers. eTitle allows one-owner to one-owner title transfers for Arizona-registered vehicles, eliminating an office visit!
The Permit Test at Home allows aspiring teen drivers to take that test on a parent or guardian’s AZ MVD Now account, and that also removes the need for one office visit to get a learner’s permit. The system also helps you manage your registration renewals and even allows you to put money in your account for future use.
Later this year, AZ MVD Now will add even more options for you as AZ MVD Now becomes the primary way for customers to get more services in a secure online environment. Among the added services will be access to your personal motor vehicle record, viewing all your vehicle titles, appointment scheduling, and more.
ServiceArizona.com will still be available, but AZ MVD Now is going to become the go-to digital platform for MVD services. Using multi-factor security to log on, and with the power of the new MVD computer system behind it, AZ MVD Now will streamline MVD services available to you at your convenience.
You can set up your free account right now at www.azmvdnow.az.gov.
Getting your plates and MVD documents by mail
MVD is always looking for ways to use our taxpayers resources more efficiently and starting later in 2019, you will see a few changes at MVD and Authorized Third Party providers. Not surprisingly, the reasons for these improvements go back to better technology.
MVD is preparing to launch a new, state-of-the-art internal computer system that will help our Customer Service Representatives serve you more quickly.
As part of that system, tabs and registration credentials will be mailed to customers and not provided at offices. About 80 percent of MVD customers already receive these documents through the mail. License plates will also be mailed rather than handed out at the counter. As part of that change, when you get a new plate the temporary paper document that goes in your window will show the actual license number of the permanent plate that will be mailed to you.
Also, titles that aren’t available electronically will be provided to customers by mail and not at offices. This reflects the ongoing conversion of more titles to online in the coming years.
Thank you to all our customers!
