Open Position: Executive Director

The Pinetop-Lakeside Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is seeking an experienced executive director for full-time employment at the chamber offices. This is not a work-from-home opportunity; pay and benefits commensurate with experience.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The Pinetop-Lakeside Chamber of Commerce Executive Director is the Chief Executive and Administrative Officer and responsible for a full range of activities, including but not limited to: coordination of the program of work; organizational structure and procedures; motivation of volunteers; income and expenses; maintenance of membership; employment, training, and supervision of staff; interpretation of policy; maintenance of headquarters; long-range planning; and liaison with a variety of constituents.

Required Skill Set

  • Proficiency in the use of Google’s email application and business applications suite, social-media networks, Microsoft Office, and QuickBooks.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Display leadership characteristics (organization, negotiation, and diplomacy).
  • Ability to speak to individuals at all levels in an organization.

General Description of Duties

Program of Work. Through the proper committee, the Executive Director is responsible for identification of Chamber and Community needs and for the preparation of a program of work designed to meet these needs. This involves a constant evaluation of the program, with recommendations for change as needed, and a system of measuring progress toward attainment of the program and goals.

Finances. The Executive Director is responsible for managing the finances of the Chamber, including timely delivery of monthly financial reports to 
the Board and the preparation of an annual budget and long-range forecasts of needs; approval of disbursements; signing or co-signing checks with one of the Board’s officers; and maintaining general control of expenditures.

Long-Range Planning. Under direction of a constantly evolving Board of Directors and an annually changing roster of officers, the Executive Director is responsible for maintaining continuity and consistency in the program.

Day-to-Day Operations. The Executive Director shall be responsible for guiding the day-to-day operation of the Chamber and its Welcome Center, and for carrying out duties with the aid of the staff, officers, committee members, and volunteers within the policy framework adopted by the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Proposals and Projects. The Executive Director is responsible for reviewing proposals and projects originating in committees, and then placing them on the agenda for Board action (with recommendations).

Membership. The Executive Director is responsible for maintaining the Chamber’s membership at a level ensuring necessary income for the operation of the Chamber, and for developing and supervising an effective program of membership development and membership 
services.

Partnerships. The Executive Director is responsible for establishing and employing partnerships and relationships with local and national agencies as appropriate in order to benefit the Chamber and Members.

Personnel. The Executive Director is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and discharging of all personnel, evaluating each staff member, at least one time annually, and making recommendations for salary adjustments based upon Board’s approved fiscal budget.

Liaison. The Executive Director must act as liaison with the Board of Directors, Chamber Members, Personnel, and the Community.

Welcome Center. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring visitors are welcomed at the Chamber’s Office and Welcome Center and all inquiries are answered within the Chamber staff’s knowledge and prerogatives and referring to appropriate staff members or other persons and organizations as necessary or logical.

Events. The Executive Director is responsible for planning and executing all events held by the Chamber. This includes monthly networking events, annual festivals, and occasional training and support classes, among others.

Donations, Sponsorships, and Advertising. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring budget goals are met through the sale of advertising within the Chamber’s printed directory, printed area map, promotional swag bags, and website, among other medium. In addition, the Executive Director is responsible for securing cash, prizes, or donation sponsors for all events.
